Bernadette and I. Photo (c) Minneapolis 2 night.com I was the lucky winner last week for Mpls St. Paul Magazine's "Pin it to Win it" contest. The prize? 2 VIP tickets to the MN Red Dress Event at Hotel Graves 601, front row seats, a swag bag, and a glass of champagne. I grabbed my good friend and photog Bernadette Pollard of Dettesnaps Photography to join me. We had a so much fun, and when I mean fun we ended up with southern accents by the end of the night. Here are some of my favorite pictures (taken with my iphone) of my first fashion show. And I can't wait to go to the next one!

Some of you may have discovered you are spending less time of facebook to peruse the new trending site Pinterest. I can't seem to get enough of it. I've been pining photos of my favorite fashion trends, discovering new Do It Yourself ideas, finding tasty recipes, seeing latest hair styles, new workouts, and the list goes on. I am attempting these new inspirations and will share with you my results. Pinterest is an invite only site unless you are willing to go on the waiting list. If you have little patience and want to become a member please leave me a comment below with your email address or email me @ [email protected].
You can follow me on pinterest here: http://pinterest.com/emilytrempe/ Here are a just a few of my favorite finds... Now that Summer is over it's time to pull out our fall/winter clothing from storage. I like to keep my fashion on a tight budget while sporting the seasons hottest looks. So in order to keep up with the latest trends I pick up just a few of the fall staples. Here are some of my fall favorites to update your wardrobe without blowing the bank. Booties/Ankle Boots Oversized watch Military Jacket Ponchos/Wraps Skinny Pants/Leggings Faux Fur So one of my favorite ways to spice up the wardrobe is revamping the simple T-shirt. I seem to accumulate plenty of these and never wear them because they just aren't my style. Not only is it fun to do but it's great to wear something that truly represents your style! I am sharing with you two of my latest creations that only took a couple of hours to make. The tools I used were a sewing machine, glue, swarovski crystals, beads, paint, and last a simple needle and thread.
For the first T-shirt I cut out the neck, created a v neck back, and cut out the sleeves. I attached a metal lace that I got off of an old pair of Express slacks. Then I crystalized the writing on the front of the Tee, and Voila! The second T-shirt I began with sprinkling water based paint on the front and back. I took in the side seams and sleeves in to give it a slimmer look. Using beads from old bracelets I hand stitched them on the front t-shirt design. Then hand painted and crystalized a personal design to create another layer. I love to wear these t-shirts around for the great compliments. It's not only impressive but fun to tell everyone that I designed and createdthem! Last weekend Minnesota experienced a historical snow storm dropping 17 inches or more. Most of us were trapped in our houses starving for things to do, so I decided to go through the fashion magazines piling up under my coffee table. I cut out many of my favorite inspiring winter looks to share with you. I just adore the chunky boots, (faux) furs, muted colors, skinny pants, & layering looks.
It's time to get rid of all the magazines piling up on your coffee table. The reason they are so hard to throw away is because we're saving them for a specific recipe, fashion look, or perhaps an article. Well it's time to run to the discount store and pick up a few blank books and scrap book away. I have many, some for recipes and others for fashion. It's great because when I'm stumped for ideas on what to wear for the holiday party, wedding, or a night with the girls, I just open the book and I'm ready to go. I will continue to share with you pictures of my scrap book for inspiration. I hope you Enjoy!
I discovered an amazing deal on-line for a nine piece make-up brush set. It includes brushes for blush, foundation, primer, shadow, detail, lip, liner, lash/brow, and also a kabuki brush. The entire set is on sale for only $26.99 with shipping at $3.99. If you purchase two sets shipping is free, and for ten sets you will receive the eleventh set free.
Awesome I know! Below is a link to the website and pictures of the brushes. http://www.markvtweezers.com/ostrbrushset2.html On on of my acting jobs I had a conversation with my makeup artist about brushes. She told me about one of the greatest places to find inexpensive good quality brushes. At our very own Michael's craft store in the art Supply section. So I had to check it out and see for myself, and boy was she right. Yes they are brushes made for painting but they are built better then some of the ones you pick up at the local drug store. They also have more types and styles to choose from than one would think. And the prices range from $1.29- $19.99, not too shabby. And don't forget about the 50% off coupons Michael's has to offer. They carry many choices of Synthetic brushes to ones made from Natural Blended Hair, Camel, Squirrel, Goat, Golden Taklon, Horse & many others. My brush purchase totaled the amount of $20.83 including tax. I also picked up a bottle of brush cleaner called "Pink Soap" that happens one of the best brush cleaners out there. I used one of my 50% off coupons with it so I got 8 oz's for only $4.01 (with tax). Click on the photo of the Pink Soap to see what others have to say about it.
And please if you have any other places to find amazing brush deals Let me know! Yesterday I ran into an amazing sale at Herbergers department store. I just couldn't pass this one up so I took a gander at what they had to offer. I found many great items but the ones I took home were delightful deals. My favorite purchase would have to be the ever so comfortable leather sandals. I haven't taken them off my feet since I bought them. I also picked up two other pairs of shoes and a couple of colorful scarves. Below I have listed the original and clearance prices. If you need to purchase anything in the next few days I highly recommend checking out this department store. They have everything!!
